Next generation flake ice machine features improved technology and connectivity

Scotsman Ice has released its next generation MXF flake ice maker. Supplied by Hubbard Systems, the new models include a range of new features that give it significant improvements on productivity, efficiency, and ease of use and maintenance.  The use of flake ice is increasing across a diverse range of sectors, including hospitality, food manufacture, the fishing industry, transportation, medical therapy and laboratories. The MXF provides a powerful, flexible and eco-friendly solution to their needs.

The icemaking system has been completely redesigned, with a new core evaporator, a new noise-free gearmotor and an innovative ice breaker that produces ‘super flake’, a very dry flake ice with just 12% water content.

The MXF has been designed to be easy to clean, with simple instructions displayed on the control panel for staff to follow. To ensure that the internal system remains in peak condition it is fitted with the XSafe UV automatic disinfection system as standard. All major components that require regular service can be accessed from the front of the unit, making it easy to maintain.

The MXF also features Scotsman’s new XWave connectivity system, offering full remote control of the icemaker via web or the specially designed app for smartphones and tablets. For example, it allows for automatic self-cleaning programs to be scheduled and is integrated with the XSafe system to provide alerts when further management or maintenance is required.

As with all new Scotsman ice machines from January 2025, the MXF uses a natural refrigerant with a low carbon footprint impact. Combined with the new icemaking systems this greatly reduces energy consumption compared to previous models.

Constructed from hard wearing stainless steel, the MXF is available in a range of production capacities from 133kg to 500kg per 24 hours.
