Compact Flake Ice Makers
The smaller units produce ice flakes with a residual water content of around 25%. This is ideal for fresh food displays, as this additional moisture helps to prevent drying out, and the “warmer” temperature of the ice reduces, or even eliminates, freezer burn.
Modular Flake Ice Makers
Larger, modular flakers produce “superflake” ice, with just 15% of residual water content remaining. These flakes are more compact, which gives a slower melt time making them perfect for storing and transporting fresh produce.
Nugget Ice – a flexible option…
Operators and businesses with a wide variety of uses for ice, for example farm shops with a restaurant or other types of cafes, could find cubelet or nugget ice a better option. Nugget ice is made by compressing flakes into uniform cylindrical nuggets, which are great for frozen displays, cooling food during manufacturing processes as well as chilling drinks.
